So you have a WordPress website that uses Restrict Content Pro and you want to protect your files from being accessed by unauthorized people?
Maybe you have PDF worksheets that you want only your members to access.
Or maybe have some video or audio files.
Regardless of what type of situation you’re in, you’re definitely not alone.
This is a very common problem that many people face.
So today I’d like to present to you 3 solutions that you may be interested in using.
1. RCP File Protector
The 3rd plugin that I have for you is RCP File Protector created by me.
Compared to the first 2, it’s a much lighter one and allows you to protect files and folders.
As the name suggests, it only works with Restrict Content Pro (at least at the current moment).

At the moment of writing this article, the plugin is not yet available in the WordPress plugin repository, but you can get it here:

Just go the link above, and then click on Clone or download -> Download ZIP.
Then in your admin dashboard you can go to Plugins -> Add New -> Upload Plugin, upload the plugin you’ve just downloaded and click on Install Now.
Then you have to activate the plugin and it should work.
Note: This plugin only works with Restrict Content Pro, so you have to have it installed.
2. Download Monitor
Download Monitor is a great plugin that allows you to protect files from being accessed directly. You can easily restrict access and allow only registered users to access files.
In order to make it work with Restrict Content Pro, you have to also to install the Download Monitor add-on for Restrict Content Pro.
This add-on will allow you to restrict access only to people who are members in particular membership.
The plugin is very easy to use.
Once it’s installed, go to Downloads -> Add New (1). Then you can give your download a name, add a file (2) and select a protection level (3).
3. Prevent Direct Access
Prevent Direct Access is another great plugin that allows you to protect files on your membership site.
A great thing about it is that it integrates not only with Restrict Content Pro but also with other plugins like Woo Memberships or Paid Membership Pro.
